

Lore Vandewalle
Professor, KU Leuven
Lore Vandewalle is a Professor (hoogleraar) of Economics at the KU Leuven. She is also a professor at the Geneva Graduate Institute (20%), where she holds a Pictet Chair for Finance and Development.
Her research mainly focuses on financial inclusion and micro-enterprise development in India, Bangladesh, and Uganda. She has also worked on political reservations and public good provision in India.

Preschool subsidies and cash transfers have long-term health benefits for children
Subsidised access to full-day preschools in Uganda had long-term positive effects on children’s anthropometrics but not their learning outcomes. Cash transfers of a similar value as the preschool subsidy had a similar impact.
