Mesay Gebresilasse is an Assistant Professor of Economics at Amherst College. His areas of specialization are development economics and applied microeconomics. He is particularly interested in the sources of underdevelopment and the role of policy in structural transformation. Another strand of my research explores the historical origins of contemporary economic development and political outcomes.
