Senior Research Fellow in the Poverty, Gender, and Inclusion Unit at the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI)
Shalini Roy is a Senior Research Fellow in the Poverty, Gender, and Inclusion Unit at the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI). Her research focuses on households’ economic behavior related to social protection, gender, nutrition, agriculture, and early childhood development. Much of her work is based on impact evaluations of development programming in these areas, with a particular interest in the role of intrahousehold dynamics. Her work spans South Asia (with a regional focus in Bangladesh), Africa, and Latin America. She currently co-leads the multidisciplinary “Cash Transfer & Intimate Partner Violence Research Collaborative” hosted by IFPRI and leads a research portfolio on “Gender-responsive social protection for climate resilience and equality” under the CGIAR’s Initiative on Gender Equality. Shalini holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Pennsylvania.
