Santiago Izquierdo-Tort is an Associate Professor at the Institute of Economic Research at Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM) and Co-holder of the UNESCO Chair on Socioeconomic Assessment of Biodiversity and Ecosystems. His research explores the nexus between economic development and climate change mitigation and biodiversity protection policies, with a focus on the effectiveness and equity of forest conservation instruments based on economic incentives. Santiago holds DPhil and Master’s degrees from the Department of International Development at the University of Oxford and a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México (ITAM).
