How can policymakers use evidence to improve the effectiveness of humanitarian aid?

During this webinar, Jeannie Annan, Luc Behaghel, Tarek Ghani and Jonas Heirman discussed how policymakers can use evidence to make humanitarian aid more effective.

Luc Behaghel (PSE, JPAL HPI) set the scene on why we need to evaluate in this area, what humanitarian actors want to know, some of the challenges of research in this area.

Tarek Ghani (Washington University) presented “Can Digital Aid Deliver During Humanitarian Crises.” Summarising key takeaways and lessons on conducting research in fragile context.

Jonas Heirman (WFP Impact Evaluation Unit) showed how can large organisations learn internally through impact evaluations, outlining key lessons from this process at WFP.

Jeannie Annan (IRC, Airbel Impact Lab) discussed how evidence from the Airbel Impact Lab ends up influencing the IRC, and identified some of the barriers to evidence adoption.
