Aaditeshwar Seth

Professor, Department of Computer Science and Engineering, IIT Delhi

Aaditeshwar Seth is a professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at IIT Delhi and runs the ACT4D (Appropriate Computing Technologies for Development) research group. His areas of interest include environment and natural resource management for community-based development, analysis of factors impeding socio-economic development in rural areas, participatory information sharing systems in low-literacy environments [video, video], and ethics of information systems.

He joined IIT Delhi in 2009, prior to which he completed his PhD under Prof. S. Keshav and Prof. R. Cohen at the University of Waterloo. In 2009, he co-founded Gram Vaani, a social entrepreneurial venture aimed at enabling development through community media in rural areas of India. Driven by a desire to understand how uneven social development emerges, in 2019 he and his students released a website to monitor biases in policy-making in India: the Giant Economy Monitor.
