Dr. Stephen Luby is currently appointed as the Lucy Becker Professor of Medicine in Stanford University’s Infectious Diseases Division and a Senior Fellow to Stanford’s Woods Institute for the Environment and the Freeman Spogli Institute for International Studies. He has conducted research at the interface between the environment and health in lower income countries for the last 30 years. He lived in Pakistan for 5 years and Bangladesh for 8 years. He also serves as the faculty director of Stanford’s Center for Human and Planetary Health. Dr. Luby’s research is increasingly focused on developing and evaluating approaches to counter the perverse incentives where people earn money by destroying the environment and health.
